“I generally agree with Prof. Milan Vego’s assessment on [mine warfare], especially the discussion on the establishment of the new Naval Mine and Anti-Submarine Warfare Command (NMAWC). The new command is throwing the baby out with the bath water, ignoring most of the operational lessons, which established the triad concept post-Desert Storm.

“The NMAWC merger agreed to by Fleet Forces Command gutted the entire concept learned on the hills of a hot war. Never have I seen a command so contaminated with groupthink and unwilling to look at facts or previous good tactical lessons on war fighting.”
